Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra and the financial capital of India has been called ‘The Urbs Prima In Indis’ from earlier times. This Latin phrase means the “Prime city of India”.
Mumbai city through its Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has had an unparalleled record of notching several firsts in various areas of civic amenities and services.
Coming out of the COVID pandemic and keeping up with the national mission of Fit India launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, the BMC has embarked on a Fit-Mumbai initiative.
This initiative is aimed at improving the fitness and health quotient of its citizens. Various initiatives have been planned and one of the first is to conduct a running event titled, ‘Fit Mumbai BMC Half Marathon.’
The main event is scheduled for December 17th, 2023 and will include the distance of a 21 kms Half-Marathon, 10 Km, 5 Km and will also have a dream-run segment for supporting and promoting charities.s
Registration for the main event is to be launched on 26th February by Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner Mr. Iqbal Singh Chahal and will mark the launch of a series of initiatives for improving the fitness of Mumbaikars.
The 21m, 10Km & 5Km races will have an age category and there will be no open category. All prizes and timings will be on Net Time and not Gun Time. It is decided to give prizes to maintain the thrill of the run.
